Cape Town is the second largest City in South Africa. It is the seat of the national parliament and contains many of the government offices. The city centre lies at the foot of the famous Table Mountain and runs into Cape Town’s natural harbor. Cape Town is the major tourist destination in the country and to cater for the tourists there are many restaurants in Cape Town. Part of the old dock area has been converted into an entertainment area called the V & A Waterfront and as well as a large shopping mall there are many restaurants and eating houses. Seafood restaurants are very popular as a large part of the countries fishing fleet are based in Cape Town. Hout bay, the main fishing harbor is famous for its fish and chip shop and restaurant above the fish Market.

While in False bay there is an abundance of Abalone, a large shell fish, that is often poached for it is a great oriental delicacy

Cape Town has a different climate to the rest of the country as it is on the southern Atlantic coast; this makes it colder and wetter in winter; but it also makes it ideal for the wine industry. Many of the vineyards have restaurants so that you can go for a wine tasting and it can be followed by a traditional cape meal.
